Executive Summary
GapEdu – Global Consultancy on Development Policy and Practice has been a strategic and operational partner supporting the World Tourism Forum Institute (WTFI) throughout its institutional lifecycle, contributing to its evolution into a respected global platform for dialogue, policy exchange, and leadership in tourism and sustainable development.
Our engagement with WTFI has been both structural and programmatic, encompassing internal operational support as well as the facilitation and delivery of high-level global activities. GapEdu has worked alongside WTFI to strengthen governance, operational coherence, and institutional readiness, ensuring that strategic vision is effectively translated into practice.
A core dimension of this collaboration has been GapEdu’s role in enabling and delivering WTFI’s flagship initiatives, most notably the Global Tourism Forums and World Magazine. Through these platforms, GapEdu has contributed to shaping content, structure, and stakeholder engagement, reinforcing WTFI’s position as a convening body that bridges public policy, international cooperation, and private-sector leadership.
GapEdu has also played a key role in high-level stakeholder engagement, supporting WTFI in bringing together Heads of State, Heads of Intergovernmental Organizations, senior government officials, and leaders from the global private sector. These engagements have strengthened WTFI’s international standing and expanded its influence as a trusted forum for strategic dialogue on tourism, sustainability, and global development.
In addition to institutional and operational contributions, GapEdu’s leadership is formally embedded within WTFI’s governance structure.
Ms. Hanni Tran, Founder of GapEdu, and Mr. Jyrki Nilson, Co-Founder & CEO of GapEdu, serve on the Executive Board of the World Tourism Forum Institute, contributing strategic guidance and oversight to WTFI’s mission and long-term development. Their roles reflect a close alignment between WTFI’s institutional direction and GapEdu’s expertise in development policy, global engagement, and practice-based implementation.
